"The Buddhist" launches today

The channel known as "The Buddhist" is said to launch today on Dialog TV. This will be the first religious channel to be introduced on Dialog TV and is part of the two religious channels that are planned on Dialog TV, the second channel being God TV.

The entire studio for this channel which is situated at the Sri Sambodhi Viharaya has been donated by the father of DTH in Sri Lanka, Mr. Muhunthan Canagey former CEO and founder of CBNsat (now Dialog TV) and technical expertise has been provided by Dialog TV.

Most new channels except the Star Package are expected to be available by tomorrow and the Star Package probably during the first two weeks of July.

We are unable to ascertain on which package the channel will be available though. We hope that all our fellow bloggers will update this blog on the latest happenings regarding Dialog TV as the days progress.

It seems that the Starcricket channel is not yet luanched in Asia.

@terry

where have you seen LBN outdoor units?

@ nimal

It should be LNB,my mistake

Star Cricket is from ESPNSTAR (ESS). Dishtv doesnt have it, Tatasky doesnt have it and most cable operators in india doesnt have it yet either.
This channel is not part of the star package despite the name. Its part of ESS bouquet (ESPN, Star Sports and Star Cricket) and they are going to charge 28INR for Star Cricket. Entire ESS bouquet is said to cost between 40-50 INR.

Schedule is unavailable for that channel on www.espnstar.com (and Star cricket doesn't have a separate web site. I think it's not officially launched yet.

But any operator who is serious about customer acquisition should get this channel coz it has a shitload cricket broadcast rights for many upcoming tournaments including two world cups and 2 20/20 world cups..

Dialog CDMA is launching tomorrow

DLR said...

Dialog CDMA ta Budhu Saranai.
They r not the first in this bussiness, so have to give good customer support to servive in cdma bussiness.

DTV is not the pioneer in DTH too. CBNSat is the pioneer in DTH in Sri Lanka, people who gave more than we thought. Unfortunately people in "Fututre" cant maintain that repo.

Jughead said...

why is it that Derana logo appears in Buddhist Channel? what's their interest?

DIALOG CDMA Hotline:

Mario said...

@ Jughead

Thats cuz they sometimes show programes produced by other TV stations. I also saw the channel eye & rupavahini logos too.

cable said...

If Dialog CDMA has the same incompetent buffoons who are at DTV
all i can say is BUDU SARANAI!

@amd,
I've downloaded zee studio prg guide this morning. Thanks !

about RF out:
Even though I got my connection from DTV, they've given me old CBNSat top box and dish(even though dish has a sticker "Dialog TV" on the CBNSat logo :-). But it came with June 2006 software (I haven't done IRD update later). I've successfully connected RF cable and selected UHF 60 to give signal to my 2nd TV on ground floor. No problems... (shows colour pics). So I think the problem is with software version you've downloaded. As I remember Riky told you to not mess with IRD upgrade and I think they can do IRD upgrade automatically when necessary.

(But don't worry I think they'll do that after software confirmation and then probably RF problem will solve :-)

@Admin,
Could you please start a new thread ? This is too heavy with 200+ comments :-)

cable said...

@soorapappa

Do you knoe Where i can buy a long RF cable?

soorapappa...සූරපප්පා said...

@Cable,
You can get RF cable(normal antenna wire) from almost all electronic/electrical shop. But if you are going to use this for more than 2-3 meters, my advice is don't do it. It has very poor quality after this length. In my case it's not a big deal because it's only a 14" colour TV and signal distortion is invisible :-)
Wireless AV sender/receiver is better option I think (some of the guys in this blog discussed about that in later posts...)

Does anyone know if it is OK to switch off DTV decoder directly from the plug ON switch without turning off the switch at the back of decoder? However, we must put the decoder to stand-by mode before you off.
Any comments?

Mario said...

@ Free-man

as far as i know, its ok to switch it off directly from the plug switch as long as u switch it off from the remote 1st. Anyways for some of us its difficult to switch it off from the back switch when its inside the TV cabinet and stuff.

I make sure I turn off using decoder from remote.

@freeman,

During heavy thunder/lighting I was advised to remove the plug from the socket as well by the Technician who installed my Dish & Decoder (during CBN Sat days).

@Cable,
If you need to extend your cable and if your levels become poor after that it’s better to use Satellite RF amplifier when you extend cable. Once I wanted to extend my cable to my room and I had to join 10m cable to accomplish that. But after joining the cable I experienced a pretty huge signal loss. Before it was extend the level was round 80, but after joining the cable the level came down around 55. So then I connected a Satellite RF amplifier in between the existing cable end the new cable as shown here. After that the level has gone up 91.

Dish
--)-------------|SAT RF AMP|-----------|SAT RCV|--|TV|

Normally it’s advisable to put a SAT RF AMP If the cable length in between your disk and the SAT RCV is more than 40m. SAT RF AMP is small unit, no need of an additional power supply. I got it from a shop at 2nd Cross Street. Once you turn to second cross street there is shop in left hand side with satellite dishes and all. EUROSTAR is the brand name on which I have, I was cost me around 750/- . Just try it and see it works.

@ riky

thank tiky..
we know how important you have been to this blog. Without your infomration we wont even know about the lauch of the new channels. So dont get carried away by some assholes who says this and that. Please keep us updated about the lasted news.
you know, even the people in DTV even dont know most kinda things you know.
so i hope you wont stop blogging.

u know, without you, we would be in a real darkness.....

will NDTV, hbo family and SRTV come soon?
thanks,
Gamini

sonik said...

@ Priyantha

thanx for the information. i did what you said and it works.... but i wonder why these things are happening all of a sudden.

the truth of the fact is that dtv has leased a very low amount of bandwith from intelsat. i doubt that they are using the full transponder capacity, although theyve introduced a new transponder.

sonik said...

@ SAG ,
did the signal level and quality level on your receiver both increase? whats important is the quality, not signal strength so plz let me know. also, is there still pixxelation? or is it much clearer than before?

yakuza said...

called cc yesterday
i have cbnsat 850 account
she said we will be able to upgrade to 900 without loosing pogo and espn, but their senior officials are yet to finalize this

lets wait and see what happens

I've been reading this comments thread for a while now and a thought occurred to me. Not trying to (or meaning to) step on any toes here but comments on a blog post don't allow you to discuss things as much as you would like or to separate out different threads of conversation. A forum would provide better options for conversations on various DialogTV related issues that people want to discuss.

I currently run a couple of forums and I can set up a sub-forum on one of those (or set up a completely new forum) if anybody is interested in using a forum for DialogTV related discussions.

Guys, can anyone of ull confirm if SAB & Neo channels are working now ?
As of 7.15 this morning, i had
a " NO SIGNAL " message.

soorapappa...සූරපප්පා said...

@nathan,
Riky is the the one who posted inside info on DTV after kalu. What you say is bullshit. If you cannot understand the difference between plans and actual implementation go somewhere else and find out more. I think you are a pimp who don't do any work. In any technical work, there are difficulties and unexpected results. So when doing such work there are no hard fixed plans (unchanging plans). Even though targets are set, those will not reveal to outside.
Something is better than nothing. If riky don't post those, who else is going to do that ? Are you say that we have to go to your fu**ing blog ang get info. Ok... I've visited your blog on http://nathan-dialogtvforum.blogspot.com/
and there is nothing except "Hi guys your're welcome to post anything here". Fu** off !!!

@Riky,
Please ignore these kind of pimps (who cannot even create simple blog) and continue your help for us !!!

SAG said...

@sonik
According to my experiences quality is depending on the level, Even though it's up to a some certain level only.
As an example it’s like this.
Level, Quality
91, 60-66
82, 60-66
76, 60-66
55, 43 (Quality has dropped)
That means if your level is remains in 70s or greater that you’ll get the maximum quality.
I think that pixilation problem is happening from DTV end if the level and quality is ok.

SAG said...

@jesika
It’s better to install an SAT RF AMP If your level remains below 70.

sonik said...

@ sag

thnx for the info
