June launch for new channels

According to reliable sources Dialog TV will be launching their new channels from June onwards. It is most likely that the launch date will be June 1st although it is still not confirmed. However we believe that their are chances of some of the channels being added earlier for testing purposes.

It is likely that the fourth transponder will be activated soon probably before the launch of the new channels. According to comments being received it seems that a restriction of the number of channels per transponder will be placed in order to improve channel quality.

There are many false rumors being spread here by certain bloggers regarding these new channels and their launch dates and we hope that they refrain from doing so since they only end up misleading the people visiting this blog for reliable information. We also thank those reliable bloggers who update this blog with valuable information.

According to information it seems that Ten Sports, Star Package (Star World, Movies, Vijay, Plus), Hallmark Channel, Neo and many other channels will be introduced to Dialog TV. It is safe to say that initially the Star Package, Ten Sports, Hallmark Channel will be introduced. It is rumored that HBO Hits, Family, Australia Network (previously known as ABC Asia Pacific) and DWTV will also be available. We are however unable to confirm what new channels will be added for the June launch. However it is certain that several new channels will be available on Dialog TV soon.

We are not sure how the packages will allocated but we feel that if they increase the package cost over Rs 1,400/= or introduce new packages which will cost more than Rs 1,400/= then those packages will not be successful. Dialog TV should try to incorporate these new channels into their existing packages.

Many bloggers seem to be trying to add the third transponder by themselves and it seems that most are failing to do so. We believe that if we are patient enough Dialog TV will update the decoders with details about the new transponder when it is fully ready. So those who are confident about doing the settings manually would have already done so but we suggest that those who were unable to do it successfully should wait till Dialog TV updates it.

We welcome those who are able to confirm exactly the channels that will be available for the June launch and the exact launch date to update us. In addition those of you who are monitoring the third transponder are requested to update us whenever Dialog TV adds a new channel for testing. We once again thank all of you who are providing us with valuable information and please update us on any other information regarding Dialog TV as the days progress. As one blogger pointed out in a few weeks time it will be June 6th and on that day at approx 9:30PM it will mark the one year anniversary of the unfortunate incident that took place in the short history of pay television in Sri Lanka.

About " LOST" season 3

Awarded the 2005 Emmy and 2006 Golden Globe for Best Drama Series, “Lost” returns for the second act of its third season of action-packed mystery and adventure -- that will continue to bring out the very best and the very worst in the people who are lost.

After Oceanic Air flight 815 tore apart in mid-air and crashed on a Pacific island, its survivors were forced to find inner strength they never knew they had in order to survive. But they discovered that the island holds many secrets, including a mysterious smoke monster, polar bears, a strange French woman and another group of island residents known as “The Others.” The survivors have also found signs of those who came to the island before them, including a 19th century sailing ship called The Black Rock, the remains of an ancient statue, as well as bunkers belonging to the Dharma Initiative -- a group of scientific researchers who inhabited the island in the recent past.

In Season Three, Jack seems to have gained the upper hand, as Ben’s life literally rests in his hands. His demands are simple – release Kate and Sawyer as prisoners of “The Others,” let them safely return to the island and he’ll stay behind. But does Jack have a hidden agenda? Kate finally made her romantic decision between Jack and Sawyer by choosing the smitten con man – but were her feelings for him genuine? Juliet – one of “The Others” -- makes a shocking decision that could endanger her standing with her people. After the death of Eko, Locke’s obsession to uncover the secrets of the island leads Sayid to believe that his intentions may not be in the best interests of his fellow survivors. Sun and Jin will continue to celebrate their pregnancy – but is the child really Jin’s? Just as Charlie returns into the good graces of Claire and her baby, Aaron, Desmond drops a bombshell on him that could change the course of his life forever. After the hatch imploded and the electromagnetic charge was expelled, questions arise as to what effects it had on the island – as well as the outside world. Will Penny Widmore find the island and her long, lost love, Desmond, and can the survivors find a way to interact with the outside world?

The band of friends, family, enemies and strangers must continue to work together against the cruel weather and harsh terrain if they want to stay alive. But as they have discovered during their 70-plus days on the island, danger and mystery loom behind every corner, and those they thought could be trusted may turn against them. Even heroes have secrets.

@ Marshidm, Priyantha

On the 7th June, it will show recap(special) at 6.30PM.

I'm going to start with that because it's my BEST TV series and missed some parts.

Priyantha,

I think you have put some spoiler content there people who have not seen season 3 may get some info from your summaray and wont get the real enjoyment of being surprised from watching the actual show

Just some more info about the show season 3 has just ended airing in the US and ABC network and the shows executive producers have decided to end the show in 6 seasons. seasons 4,5,6 will feature 16 episodes each begging from Jan-Feb 2008.
So wait until 2010 to get all the secrets of the island at least in the U.S.

I have watched entire season 3 and it really picks up after episode 10 The season finale episode 22-23 is really great dont be spoiled by reading about it on the net best thing to do is watch it and you wont regret it

I think episodes 1-9 are available in DVD from majestic city CD shops

Sorry about going off -topic but for me lost is the best series in the world at the moment and i really loose myself when there is a discussion about it

Is this is the nature of the tp3, or do anyone receiving channels on tp2 and tp3 separately.

please inform and notify any steps which needs to follow to tackle the situation.

can anyone tackle the matter.

@ Riky and Kalu

Do you guys still believe that the new channels will be given in the first week of this month?

@ everyone

Well, i foned the customer care today, ( at 5.15 pm) and u know wat they said.they said was that before giving any new channels they would advertise in the newspapers, internet and everykinda media. And also said that first of all they would inform the customers seperately. and I asked him wheather the new channels would be given in this month, what he said was before the lauching they would advertise. So wat?
I have really had enough with this new channels bussiness. So now i would be happy watching the prevailing channels. Some day the new ones will come no. dunno when that SOMEDAY will come.
@ AMD
ur sure that they said that the new channels will be given this month? If so, thats a great pleasure...

Unknown said...

admin,

why cant u arrange an interview with a manager in DTV? Even a email interview would do.

Thanura said...

@ SLP,
I had the same problem earlier. but after some experiments i got them in2 da lineup.
I think the channels on the new transponder doesn't show on the line up menu coz they have the same names as TP2 channels have. turning off NIT switch will do the difference.

follow AMDs instructions.
*Enter the master code 9949
*Go to Channel search
*U will then get a box with the satalite names.
*Go to CBNSAT and u will be able to select TP 1, 2 and NEW TP
*Select the NEW TP and enter 11468 and then 27689.
*Change polarization to VER.

And when u do the search remember 2 turn off the NIT switch.(theres an option called NIT, on the last window before u do the channel search)

If i'm wrong please correct me some1.

@ Gamini,

Hay! Ureka ! Ureka !
As I said before we can’t keep the blog alive without ones like you. Thanks to you, I tried that & the problem is the same one you have. But, It’s a good sign to think the new channels come so soon. Without this blog I can’t even think how to use DTV as our way. Also I think this is the most discipline blog of the All. And everyone contribute on the topic about DTV than insult each other. There are new aspect & creative ideas. It’s better to the development of the knowledge of the bloggers.

@ arnold perera,

Please don’t make trouble here. You’re not a DTV subscriber & even don’t want to buy one. It’s better to buy everything but we can’t. Don’t have enough money. If someone gets something He thinks that’s the best. So we. We think DTV is the best & don’t know other subject. Also we can’t change the one as quickly & get another one if we bought a one. Then , our intention is to rise up DTV & get the benefit from it , not from others, because we don’t have.
I think you’ll buy DTV ( you have to do it in the future ), after that we’ll appreciate your contribution here. Until then , Don’t insult us the way we don’t insult you.

How Rains May Affect Satellite Transmissions

Guys in this month's DTV guide there is an article about rain outages in satellite communications technology. I am posting that article below for the benefit of all of us.

How Rains May Affect Satellite Transmissions

Even the most reliable satellite communications technology
can sometimes be out-matched by the forces of nature.
It’s a phenomenon known as “rain fade” or “rain attenuation” – a
weakening of the satellite signal as it passes through raindrops.
Rain fade is one of the most common, and often most misunderstood,
phenomena to affect satellite signals. But the more
you learn about the causes of rain fade, the better your chances
are to lessen its impact on your satellite system.
The Causes
Any satellite communications system network operator using
a Ku-Band system (12 /14 GHz or higher frequencies) will face
the effects of rain fade at some time. But to understand why this
weakening occurs with Ku-Band transmissions, you must first
understand the causes of rain fade. Two of the most common
causes are listed below.
Absorption – Part or all of the energy generated when a
radio wave strikes a rain droplet. The droplet is converted to
heat energy and absorbed by the droplet.
Scattering – A non-uniform transmission medium (the
raindrops in the atmosphere) causes energy to be dispersed
from its initial travel direction. Scattering can be caused by either
refraction or diffraction.
Refraction – The refractive index of the water droplets encountered
by the radio wave.
Diffraction – the travel direction of the radio wave also
changes as it propagates around the obstacle in its path (a
water droplet).
These different reactions ultimately have the same effect – they
cause any satellite system to lose some of its normal signal level.
Don’t expect to lose your satellite signal every time it rains,
though. Rain outage will only occur during the heaviest rains
(convective and stratiform are the most predominant types)
with only a small portion of the transmission path experiencing
attenuation. In fact, of a typical satellite transmission path measuring
22 ,300 miles, less than .02% will be affected by rain fade.

@Priyantha,

Thanks for the full channel guide.
Anyway... I've also noticed that this Arnold Perera is peeping into others blogs and give hard time for them. Fortunately most of us just ignored him :-)

One of my friend has comet connection and it's quality is not so good. Having said that there are different advantages and disadvantages of each technologies and DTV has lot to improve (ex: Improving pic/sound quality by adding new TPs, updating EPG and detailed EPG correctly, EPG reminders/jump to reminder channel correctly ect.)

But the good news is that DTH technology is far better than analog transmission and there are much more improvements can be done.

So lets hope they'll act fast and get the maximum out of that.
