Schedule & EPG Problems

Today is the 7th of March 2007 and Dialog TV have not yet updated their programme schedule on their website. Even the EPG that is running on the screen is supposed to be giving out wrong information at times. Specially wrong programme Genres as well as overlapping programme times.

Some bloggers have even communicated to us and have said that when they call Dialog TV they are told that the schedule for this month will posted towards the middle of this month since this is the first time that they are doing a printed schedule and thereafter the schedule will be sent to the subscribers by the beginning of the month. Has anyone else got a similar response from Dialog TV?

According to information gathered by the interview with Mr. Ramesh the EPG should be fully activated by the middle of this month and hopefully it happens as he has said.

In addition we hope that all arrangements are in progress and will be completed before the commencement of the ICC World Cup 2007 in order to watch the matches without any picture freezing, etc. We expect Dialog to make a provision for subscribers of their 500 package to watch the World Cup hopefully without any extra charges or at least by charging a nominal fee.

Subscribers Unite should note that there is some sort of apathy growing in the DTV subscribers (at least bloggers) mind that DTV is not being professional as should be.
It has been nearly 4 months since they took-over and yet the service levels are low compared that to say LBN or even Dish TV.
In the same breath is should be said that content is still very much acceptable and quality is decent.
H/e, we expect more from a big operator like Dialog and not even having the latest program guide uploaded at their site (let alone the EPG) is simply not acceptable.

I hv a feeling that some of the earlier bloggers are stying out of the blog as the simple requirements simply does not seem to be catered for and/or they hv other connections from other operators as well.

Somebody better alert Dialog team that marketing alone would not suffice and their lack of professionalism is showing elsewhere - even though the basic DTH beam is satisfactory (and I personally am very thankful for that!).

whole heartedly agree with vishkid on the fact that DTV is def not getting their act together and/or is getting it together waaayyyyy to slowly!

its all well and good that DTV gave us our CBNsat feed back, but for DTV to grow, this kind of slow progress is simply not enough.... billing issues, epg probs, trash interviews by their ppl about company future, no TP3 and the list goes oooooooonnnnnnnnnn.

So, here's hoping DTV dispels all our doubts and gets their act together ASAP!

I think DTV is run by people who doesnt know anything about DTH.Its time the Dialog management appoint a versatile person who knows about the DTH industry,competitors and quality content to run the operation.Arrogant/visionless sales managers are not going to help your cause.DTV has been exposed to the laclustre running of operations with the departure of MR.Muhunthan,and whoever is handling the simple issues such as content,epg,programme guide has messed up in style.

Talking big and trying to stop people from selling Dish TV connections is not going to give you business,What Mr.Anthony can do is to buy one of these connections and try to match up the quality,content and Epg of Dish TV.

1.What a EPG on Nat GEO,
it shows the time as,
00:00 - 00:00
&
2.EPG on Star Sports left away.

3.Sound on ESPN deteriorated.

4. Rupavahini hasn't good quality yet.

What about Set MAX ? We can't tell anyone to buy DTV these days without seeing Set Max on it.

Does that Future goes to the futures ?

We love DTV thats why we're here talking about to develop that. In vain all of us only making voices , But nothing yet to happen.Then we can't tell others to don't buy SatNet, Dish Tv or Tata Sky Untill DTV gives the BEST!

Hope that will happen !( Like past Monthes , But nothing except SLRC & Channel Eye)

5.I've got DTV (CBN) last December 28th .Last week I've recieved a Bill for the year of whole 2006.And it says they will stop the transmission if I don't pay.
After I inform Customer Care , They told me I've bought DTV in 2005 (Not in 2006 Dec.)

Is This FUTURE TODAY ?

Do it right way, I've the Bill (I've receive from the dealer)

Then How we tell others to buy DTV ?

I use DTV and DISH TV.As for now i beleive that DTV cannot even come closer to DISH in content and EPG.

Compared to DTV,Mr.Shirantha Hearath of LBN has been realy agressive and the sales guy of DTV should learn a lesson from this competitor,who on his own has brought back his company from ashes,with better content and quality while being open minded,frank and ambicious in his aproach.

He knows what the pay TV market and customer apirations are and he is going to suceed in his endevour.

DTV website must update the channels list to indicate that they offer quality Zee channels too. It only shows insignificant channels like Zee music and Zee sports.

As someone said, signal and quality levels drop at night. They will have to do something to improve that. Some channels still freeze.

We haven't still got the full program guide on the EPG, DTV-website or a paper copy yet.

From the day one what I am trying to say is. We are paying the money to a company which we think is very professional. The company’s responsibility to take necessary action. Not 3rd party unknown people to assist us. End of the day every one is paying an equal installment. In mobile industry customer may be categories based on usage. Here the story is different.

From the begining I told that, Customers (WE) are waiting for good quality service from DTV or new service supplier with attractive package. Although this bloggers are telling the same story in different voices DTV management thinks they are the load. Sorry, Dialog is going to ruin his goodwill b'cos of this DTV.

If you cannot give good service to us, pl sell this to any other party who can manage. (At least to people can answer the customer care calls)

I think Mr.Anthony is trying to act like a lord and for sure he is some little fart who thinks that the DTV subscribers know nothing.

As youll say if arrogant and misinformed guys like him are running DTV,I think people will shift to DISHTV in no time and the vision of the former CEO will never will be fullfilled.

Is this sales guy a newcomer or was he there during the CBNsat time.

The future sucks not today.

PRINTED GUIDE WILL BE COMING LATE. MOST OF SUBSCRIBERS CAN'T WAIT TILL THEN AS ALREADY A WEEK HAD GONE BY.

THE CURRENT GUIDE DO NOT HAVE ZONE REALITY. HOPFULLY IT WILL BE ADDED IN FUTURE.

EVEN WE BELIEVE THAT A PRINTED GUIDE WILL BE HANDY AS YOU CAN SEE THE WHOLE MONTHS ENTERTAINMENT GUIDE AT ONCE.

EPG IS GOOD JUST FOR THE MOMENT. WE HEARD THAT DISH TV IS GIVING A 3 DAY GUIDE ON EPG.

COULD ANYONE OF YOU EXPLAIN HOW IT WORK ? FOR THE BENEFIT OF PEOPLE WHO SO NOT KNOW ABOUT IT.

LET'S LIGHT A LAMP THAN CURSING THE DARKNESS.

ive got inside info from a dialog emplpoyee saying that several channels such as tensports etc. will be added to the lineup soon.

Surprisingly I recieved a bill with an outstanding amount of zero ( all waived off). But I got an SMS asking me to pay 700 odd rupees. My question is if there is an outstanding amount that should be in the bill. DTV should seriously look into their billing pracitces.

I have thoughts of getting a DishTV connection as a second second connection and after comparing the experience decide whether to terminate DTV connection.

Agree with Lisura.

We customers should have a little patience. DTV team is working hard to get EPG running.

Anyway, don't curse Dialog for their actions. Encourage them and help them do better. Remember that we could now be drawing new customers away from the service by our comments. And even Dialog can't manage without money.

The full EPG will be here on time, and TP3 will come in April/May. Already 9 channels are done. Expect EPG on more tommorow and in the days to come.

EPG now on (as of 3.00 pm on 8th March):-
HBO
HBO Signature
CineMAX
AXN
ESPN
National Georgraphic Channel
History Channel
Pogo
Zee TV

EPG is currently been tested, and that's why they keep appearing and disappearing. But now the NGC and History Channel EPGs are accurate (I checked with website). HBO family and CineMAX EPGs seem to be getting mixed up. At least we are getting names of the films correctly (or are we).

7 day EPG or whatever will be introduced with the new software update.

SetMAX is coming tomorrow (Friday) or at least before the World Cup.

Pic freezing seemed to be solved on SET because yesterday night there were no interruptions (I just watched the picture for a while). Maybe they sorted out the problem.

Zone Reality does not actually provide information properly regarding its programming. Its webside program guide didn't seem quite correct when I checked it today.

Did anyone see the new Comet Digital website. It took me a long time to load it even on ADSL. I hope its a good sign for Comet customers. It will also be good for Dialog as there will be competition. Have my doubts that it is true though. Wouldn't a large scale upgrade like that have been leaked to the society before?

Dialog already has the ability to do most stuff that Comet is telling. And Comet is not likely do all the stuff at the beginning itself.

DishTV has EPG for 2 days. Tata Sky has EPG for 7 days. You can demonstrations of both at their respective websites.

@ Eranda
Give a call to Customer Care. If they answer, they should be able to sort out the problem from their side, or give you info to do so.


If you people like, you can support Hulla throguh Telecave or whatever. But so far our fight was to save CBNsat from Hulla. Now why would we support him? Thats foolish.
If you want DishTV, dont buy from Hulla. Buy it illegally. DTV is better than the DishTV Hulla package.

Sometimes I feel that times were better when people fought in this blog. Now we are not occupied and we start cursing Dialog all the time.
Cmon guys, give some light and encouragement. Let the DTV team know we are supporting them. I think they are mostly the same old CBNsat technical team. Don't put them down yet.
Maybe the problem was that we expected too much from Dialog in its first months in the market, being a profesional company. Although they should teach that Sales Manager to speak better in interviews. Fortunately he is not managing the service fully.

Lets all give a round of applause to the DTV techinacl team and expect the future patiently. After all, even Dialog GPRS and 3G were lauched after long periods of testing. Dialog just didn't have much time to test at first.

You must be a dialog fellow.
Any company who come to a new bussiness must run the bussiness from the day one. Other wise in competitive bussiness world dialog will loos. What we still saying that at least dialog should now wake up & show us their colors

Its true that we were cursing huluballa for all the crimes he committed .and we still are... but Dialog should ensure that people in the blog, or generally cusomters do not end up being patronisers of satnet or associates because of poor customer service.

We know for sure that "customer service" of indian DTH services in Sri Lanka is non-existent.. But they have been consistent in delivering quality and billing etc.

If you do not bill your customers accurately, you really cant talk about a customer service.. On the other hand calls are not answered for more than 20 minutes in average.. ! I remember those days when CBN was there I didnt have to wait to get a call answered.

(So far i havent been able to get in touch with a call centre person to talk about billing issues despite several tries on 2679679 )

I think they should have waited with their commercial launch until they get the house in order.

Yes, They speak about future today,But the same Lord Anthony cant get the Neo Channels and Star Package in to their platform and neither can they activate a simple facility such as EPG.

There arrogance are shown again when they cant get SETMAX activated and i dont think they can do it by friday and i want be suprised if we miss the opening ceramony and a couple of matches too.

As per YAKUZAS comment,Mr Ramesh Anthony doesnt know anything about new channels,but all the tom,dick,harries at DTV knows.

Anae- No one will buy Dish TV from huluballa,because you dont get any worthwhile content in that,But people are surely buying Dish TV and there are enough dealers around us to buy them.

I wonder whether the people at DTV are aware that the world cup starts this week end.

Got the program guide e-mailed by Subs Unite.

No Nat Geo amd Histroy guide this time. They are some of the best channels. May have to go to comet website to get it. Zee TV is listed. But not other Zee channels.

If the Dialog TV buggers even miss a single match just as Manil said, I'm gonna give up DTV and I'm goona go for DishTV.

I'm really damn serious about this. U know the EPG is not worth even a cent coz in the movie channels the genre and the synposis doesnt match.

I took a call from my Dialog mobile to DTV customer care and waited more than 15 min to reach an agent. That call charges added to my phone bill. If this is a same company and a seperate hotline, they should wieved off the phone charges.
