Dialog TV to switch satellites?

According to unconfirmed reports being received Dialog TV is to switch satellites from Intelsat-12 to ChinaSat-12 aka SupremeSat-1. Yes, this is widely known as Sri Lanka's first satellite.

Although we are unable to confirm this development and the time frame within which Dialog TV will carry out this switch, we see the following reasons as to why Dialog TV maybe even considering this move.
  • Low cost of transponders compared to European/American operated satellites - This is actually one of the major reasons that Indian DTH operators are more cost effective, since almost all use Indian satellites.
  • Priority given to locals when allocating transponder space - One of the reasons that Dialog TV maybe unable to expand to a new transponder could be lack of free transponders on Intelsat-12.
However one major drawback could be the fact that Dialog TV will have to reposition all antenna's to the new position which means that Dialog TV should operate from both satellites used until all subscribers are switched to the new position.

It's certain that a move of this nature will benefit both Dialog TV & subscribers in the long term.

Interesting development, however, Chinasat 12/Supremesat 1 does not have a Ku Band beam for South Asia and Sri Lanka. It appears that only the C-Band beam covers our country.

As i mentioned earlier post too, there is no KU beam of this sat over SL... so i wonder dialog is getting CS12 service for broadcasting...
Cost may be less but where to give the service... only hope there is one steerable beam which might refocus over SL (which i'm not sure though) otherwise we all have change not just the direction but dish too (from small offfset KU to big C band dish (the big inverted umbrella).. which is generally not case the case when it comes to DTH services.. (you can get similar service from AsiaSAT3/5 on thier C band coverage)
in case Dilog getting this CS12 (@87.5E) sat we may be able to catch ST2 (@88E) as well (which transmits Indian VideoCON DTH) on the same dish.. some times there were some FTA chs on this ST2 sat.. check the following links for both CS12 and ST2

DTV Use Only Ku Band (not C-Band)
Not major drawback could be the fact that Dialog TV will have to reposition all antenna's to the new position
Many Benefit Change New Satellite
(1) Rain Problem 50% Reduce
(2) Many New installation (old Cover building and Trees)
(3) Low cost of transponders
(4) Design Life 15 years
(5) Intelsat 12 Soon cutoff (new satellite will be co-located)
(6) New Intelsat High cost of transponders
(7) Intelsat 12 and ChinaSat 12 make Same Manufacturer (France)
(8) Not major problem to change the satellite
(9) Only 12,000 to 15,000 Customer Problem (permanently blocked with buildings any other)
(10) Government force any time buy the ChinaSat 12

guys, its not mena beam, but the kur beam.

its steerable. can refocus over sri lanka.

running from intelsat 12 to chinasat 12 means less tp cost, high availability since less obstructions, and more tp's to content delivery.

http://www.chinasatcom.com/UploadFiles/zhongxing124.JPG

only drawback is govt can police the broadcast more than ever. but since the war is over, i dont think that they need anything to censor,

good move in long term, appreciate

@SLP.. tks for the reply
yep i too was anticipating that steerable beam would be utilizing on this matter..
No worries as long as DTV subscribers are getting the benefits..(isn't it??)
but my problem that, if they (CS12) change the antenna (respect to steerable beam) to cover SL, then the utilization of of it will be at stake as.. just look at the coverage of it.. now it covers many zones together and changing it would offset from present coverage. (well..that is not my problem as long as CS12 is agreeing to do that)

Cheers..

I think z studio is a better movie channel than star movies. zee studio has a variety of movies . such as action drama classic but in the other hand star movies always playing
same kind of movies and most of them are repeats, if dialog can add zee studio hd it will be ideal for the channel line up

zee studio HD

China Sat have steerable beam, they will move it it Sri Lanka and this will reduce the piracy over South Asia like Pakistan and India since it just cover only Sri Lanka. I hope this is good move by dialog. It is good move to show own feed by dialog for the Sri Lanka Bangladesh Tournament. If they can continue this strategy, no need to add scrappy Indian feeds. if Dish tv India start services on 1st of March in Sri Lanka this will be huge gain for dialog if they can remove bloody indian feeds and adding at-least south east Asian feeds.
