Setanta Sports to launch on August 1st 2011

Setanta Sports which is presently being tested on Dialog TV will be launched officially on August 1st 2011. According to the scrolls which are vaguely worded the channel will cost Rs 99/= (excluding taxes) for all packages which means that even Gold package subscribers will have to pay the additional charge.

IF THIS IS TRUE... This same strategy was tried with Discovery Turbo & Discovery Science and it backfired on Dialog TV, the same would happen here as not many will be willing to pay an additional amount for this channel. This channel is available FTA over CSN, additionally the channel is available FTA for anyone with a satellite dish so making Gold package subscribers pay additionally is just one of those decisions which would be grossly unfair.

We sincerely hope Dialog TV doesn't repeat past mistakes and would continue providing this channel FOC for Gold package subscribers plus another package if possible, if not we believe that subscribers would refrain from activating this channel.

We would also like to state that some have been informed that the channel would be available free for Gold subscribers, so we will have to wait to see what exactly happens on Aug 1st 2011.

Please keep us updated on the latest on Dialog TV as the days progress.

CSN dosent show SETANTA as much as they used to after it was launched on DTV.

Earlier rumors were that CSN would get the rights for the SL vs AUS tour. But now its confirmed that CHANNEL EYE will telecast it.

Sadly it seems that DTV is just not interested and doesn't have the knowledge of the channels required to be run on their pay television network. BBC Entertainment Asia , SyFy , Channel V International to name a few...

Here we go again... DTV up to its old tricks. FTA channel and they want to make money. Ok, so there is a cost to them. But shouldn't it be absorbed by them even for the premium costumers, if not for the low end subscribers.

thirdeye I totally agree with you.

I would shift to a Indian DHT but it will be illegal very soon and I don't want to go there.

All,

I found this user manuals for all type of decorders of Dialog TV. Which is avalable on their web site.

http://www.dialog.lk/personal/tv/devices/

And you find all in/out types of the decorders. S-Video out is there on Opentel OFS1700IR module.

And I think this is the decorder that they issue for Personal Video Recording system.

Further Setanta Sports will be free for all Gold Package holders as I have mentioned on my previous comments. And it's Confirmed by my friend @ Dialog :)

Seems that Setanta is going to be @ a extra cost of 99/= for all the pakages.....

Which shouldnt be the case. Gold Package holders should get this Channel Free Of Carge where others could either upgrade their package to Gold or pay extra rental of 99/=.

DTV please do not charge from Gold Package holders for this channel. Coz later you will anyway have to give it FOC like the way you did for Discovery Turbo and Science.

Mario>> Even the channel show the match it will be blocked in Dialog TV during the match.

@ SLP, thanks.

@ televisionLAnka

Thats the normal case because of a policy by SLRC in the case re-broadcast of live cricket matches.
