Dialog takes requests into consideration regarding Ten Sports feed

Dialog TV which moved from Ten Sports India to Ten Sports Middle East took subscriber requests into consideration and decided to move Ten Sports back to the Indian feed after every cricket match. The reason the feed was moved to the Middle East feed was due to the fact that there are less interruptions in the Middle East feed compared to the Indian feed during the cricket. However this change would have meant that viewers missed out on WWE action as well as football. But all this has now been rectified with Dialog moving to the Middle East feed only during the cricket.

It is a good move taken by Dialog TV and hopefully we will see decisions taken giving due consideration to subscriber request.

Please keep us updated on the latest on Dialog TV as the days progress.

Good move. But the question is why DTV cant be as sensible as, in handling other issues.

However it is good to note DTV is thinking about customers at last. So we hope they will continue in this manner in solving other issues to keep customers delighted.

Is MPEG4 High Definition?

Techsavy said...

Harindu,

MPEG 4 is not HD. MPEG 4 is an encoding technology for transmission and HD content could be delevered through MPEG 4 with a lesser bandwidth ( Around 8Mbps)

Yes History is now FOX HISTORY AND ENTERTAINMENT.

Does that mean we will get FOX channels on DTV??

Even LBN changes the feed to the ME feed during the match. I beleive PEO TV does the same ? All must have come to an agreement with Dialog Telekom cuz they are the sponsors ?

@AMD

nothing good or bad. its because of sri lanka match. indian feed telecast ICL. i think nothing to discuss here.

@admin
please start a new thread.

Techsavy said...

Sanjan,

You are perfectly correct. SL- ZMB series get clashed with ICL in Tensports. Its not anything else and if you dont change the feed you get part of the matches.

Looser said...

sanjan, iptv pls don't lie

SL-ZMB match was on both feeds.

star said...

@Looser,

You are wrong. Indian feed of Ten sports show only part of SL-ZIM match after that they show the ICL Live match. I can see the both feeds. one from LBN and other one from DISH TV.

Techsavy said...

Looser,

You are the one wrong dear. Fortunately for you all, SL-ZIM match was over by 19.30 hrs except for the 3rd one day and ME feed had ICL delayed transmission and Indian feed had ICL live.

DIALOG NEWS FROM
http://www.cellular-news.com/story/34836.php

Sri Lanka' Dialog Sees Slump in PrePaid Additions

Sri Lankan market leader Dialog finished Q3 08 just short of 5m customers, with an end-quarter base of 4.98m. Quarterly net additions stood at 172k, the lowest figure for three years.

This was due to a slump in prepaid net additions, which fell by 53.6% year on year to 141k. Meanwhile, contract net additions were up from 4k in Q3 07 to 31k in Q3 08.

Customer quality still declined year on year with a 0.7pp fall in the contract percentage to 12.5%, but there was a quarterly rise of 0.2pp. In real terms, there were 0.62m contract customers at the end of the quarter, compared to 4.36m prepaid.

Quarterly EBITDA and Monthly ARPU
Penetration in Sri Lanka looks set to surpass 50% within the next year, and growth has been slowing for some time.

Dialog’s slowdown has been particularly marked, with Q3 08 seeing all-time lows for both quarterly and annual growth. The former fell below 5% for the first time ever, and in fact the figure of 3.6% was less than half the 8.4% recorded in the year-earlier quarter.

Annual growth stood at 25.6% compared to 39.8% for the prior twelve months.

The company’s other reported KPI’s did little to alleviate this somewhat gloomy picture.

Annualised churn rose sharply in the quarter, the first such increase for over two years, with a figure of 7.7% compared to 6.0% in Q2 08.

This seems to be the key factor behind the poor performance for prepaid net additions. Unfortunately, prepaid ARPU also fell, with a cumulative average of SLR 340 per month, the lowest figure recorded since the company began reporting this metric in 2005.

Contract ARPU was essentially flat quarter on quarter at SLR 1,467 but the annual decline was 14.9%. Meanwhile, the blended figure was also at an all-time low of SLR 480.

The decline in ARPU was outweighed by the increase in customers, leaving nine-month revenues up 3.8% at SLR 25.2bn. However, a 48.8% increase in costs of network operations to SLR 12.5bn left gross profit down 20.1% at SLR 12.7bn. Meanwhile, EBITDA fell 32.5% to SLR 7.6bn, implying a dramatic decline in the EBITDA margin from 46.6% in 9M 07 to 30.3% in 9M 08.

.
Prompt resonse is highly appreciates.

@SLP
SPEED WISE DIALOG ONE IS EVEN SLOWER THAN M3 512.
YOU CANT DO ANYTHING WITH DIALOG HSPA. ITS USELESS.
M3 512 YOU GET ONLY 250MB. ITS NOT ENOUGH FOR MOST.
SINCE YOU ARE WILLING TO SPEND 2990 PER MONTH WHY NOT GO FOR SLT TOTALLY UNLIMITED ADSL OR M3 1.5MB CONNECTION.see this also
