According to information it seems that Dialog TV is planning to upgrade to MPEG4 in the near future from the present MPEG2 compression. The MPEG4 compression is very beneficial for the the subscribers as well as the operator. MPEG4 allows for HDTV facilities and also enables Dialog to carry more channels per transponder. Presently a transponder carries 18 channels and with MPEG4 approximately 30 channels may be carried on a single transponder reducing the transponder cost per channel and thereby enabling Dialog to pass the benefit to the subscriber.
Because Dialog have less than 50,000 subscribers at present a change over to MPEG2 will be less expensive that acquiring new transponders, since they will have to issue new STB's to their existing subscribers. It is likely that the new MPEG4 STB's will be issued free of charge per subscriber. It is also useful if Dialog can have a DVR with a built in MPEG4 decoder so that subscribers can purchase it at a discounted price instead of the free MPEG4 STB.
It looks like Dialog are ready to launch a DVB-T and DVB-M based services. DVB-M for providing television to mobiles phones and DVB-T for providing digital channels to homes using a digital terrestrial broadcast. We are not sure what the DVB-T service is likely to be, and whether it will be a free or fee based service. There are chances that Dialog TV may be contemplating the idea of making its pay service into a multi platform service using DVB-S, DVB-M and DVB-T. However the information that we are receiving about the DVB-T service is mere speculation and is at times contradictory and we will update our readers on this when we get clearer information.
In addition it seems that subscribers can now select certain channels for a fee. This is helpful for example for those in the Rs 100, Rs 500 and Rs 900 packages to get channels in the higher packages for a fee. Channels are available from Rs 50/= to Rs 100/= per channel and they can be subscribed for in groups too. We hope that anyone who has information on how these channels are allocated and what are the channels available on this scheme, is able to post a comment for the benefit of our fellow bloggers.
Dialog TV has still got some EPG and sound problems to sort out soon. Certain channels have very high sound level and some have a very low sound level. Channels such as Star World are very low and even Star Movies is low to a certain extent. Channels such as History Channel and some others have sound only on one sound channel. We hope that these are sorted out immediately and the next thing is for Dialog TV to make their EPG accurate. This is something that has been highlighted several times but Dialog TV does not seem to want to improve the accuracy of their EPG. Petty issues like wrong time zone or showing the EPG for some other feed of a channel still exists.
Please keep us updated on the latest on Dialog TV as the days progress.

FTV not coming now It’s confirmed.
(FASHION TV)NOT SOON
rupavahini,
in the old thread you talked about a CAA case. Was the case filed in Supreme court? Asset Media does have all the licenses doesnt it?
i thought FTV will be availble on request for a additional fee.
Lightning_Struck_Tower
Asset Media have TV licenses not for DTH licenses
DTH licenses have
1 TVLANKA Mr.Abywardana
2 SATNET Mr.Hulugalla
3 SRILAKVAHINI Mr.Rohan Welivita
hush
now is not coming FTV
rupavahini,
I thought Supreme Court gave the green light to DTV because they had all the required licenses.
so only the henchaiyas of Rajapakshas have DTH licences.
Dear Admin,
It should be DVB-H(Handheld) not DVB-M for mobile phones.
rupavahini,
As far as i know Hulugalla doesnt have a DTH license. He runs his crap through a license borrowed from Gamini Rajanayake who's a director of TV Lanka.
So this means that Dialog Telekom started a DTH service without having proper licenses ???... ya right!
As far as im concerned Hula should be banned from even setting foot in sri lanka!!
amd Are you dreaming? As far as Hulluballa and Abey keep licking Rajapassa they don't need any licences to run anything
when will they start "SET PLAN" ?
@ Rupavahini
TRC issued new licences which came into effect after the closure of cbnsat to most of the applicants,So your theory is wrong and you are refering to the old licence(As LST said which Rajanayake sold to 3-4 people)
KIDO

Wish that if dialog tv guys cant sort out the problem of SET SAB better to take it out of the lineup and add something more useful....
thnx for the news about FTA decorders.
FASHION TV NOT Cominggggggggggggggggggg
heard that the india england one day series will be broadcasted in ENGLISH commentry on ESPN
I think that the sound problem for all channels has been resolved...at least I do not see any differences in sound levels anymore.
Yes they should remove SET SAB.
No body is watching that channel even a hindi lover due to heavy freezing.(Most of the time no signal) If they can't fix it they should remove it and add a useful channel or keep it blank.
@ KIDO-CMB
The sound levels of all channels seem to be ok now. Tks.
Please activate EPG for ZEE TRENDZ & VH1.
As russel said, if DTV cant rectify the problems with SET SAB, please replace it with some more useful channel.

AMD THE BOOT LICKER OF DTV
WHO DO YOU THINK KIDO-BLACKBERRY-CMB IS,HE IS NOT BANDARA ATTANAYAKE THE FRIEND OF AMALKA WHO IS THE HEAD OF ENGINEERING.
There was a message displayed last night requesting me to pay the subscription to avoid disconnection. I do not know whether other subscribers too have received this message.
Except for the current month, i.e. July 28 to Aug 27 I have settled all dues to DTV. Ofcourse in the current bill they have requested me to pay before the 11th of Aug and purposely I delayed payment on a matter of principle, as we are not obliged to pay in advance according to the terms & conditions of our agreement signed with CBN Sat which DTV have agreed to uphold. Therefore DTV have no moral right to demand payment in advance.
@laksirif,
I think this message was sent for everyone. I've also settled bills except this month. So just ignore it :-)
@kido-cmb,
In the last post you've said
"5.Other packages ( 500/- 900/- )custmers also can have addtional channells by selecting set plans offered by DTV which is a preset menu.
can get the addtional channels now even calling hotline."
Do you mean it's now available or from tomorrow ? please clarify.
I heard in SUN FM raidion news yersterday that DTV has obtained a restraning order against CAA over the case filed by CAA against DTV.
Any news regarding this?

today @ 19.00 LIVE ON:
ESPN - ENGLISH
STAR CRICKET - HINDI
@amd
will they show 20-20 on espn or star sports
has anyone purchased a nokia 3110 classic
if so please comment abt the phone
@ Yakuza
Sorry not sure about it.
@yakuza
I think 20 20 will be on espn and star cricket
They can't take out Rupavahni/Eye during the RWC. Not a legal point but it is baseless doing so. None of their channels (except Neo+ with a few) are showing the matches and Eye is not showing them all live as well.
And after all, channel Eye is also important to the tamil subscriber community as well.
So I'm pretty sure they wont shuffle these local channels this time. But it's all up to these weird marketing guys.
So .. I don't need to upgrade after-all, to watch RWC!
Does anyone have the BLACK CBNSAT REMOTE CONTROLLER with a lot of buttons?
Please send me a clear photo of it. You can even scan the remote on most of today's scanners.
Thanks
But Neo Sports + might make a fuss about having the Channel Eye too.
Because if Channel Eye shows more matches, it is a danger to Neo Sport's viewer base (very small, I suspect).
NEO+ IS NOT SHOWING ALL MATCHES BECAUSE INDIA DOES NOT HAVE A CRAZE FOR RUGBY,
Then it's time to dust off the trusty old antenna!! :P
CAA case against Dialog TV brushed aside
[20-08-2007 5.45pm]Today, (August 20th) the Supreme Court (SC) ruled out the case filed by the Consumer Affairs Authority (CAA) against Dialog TV while granting permission to hear the FR petition by the Dialog TV company- Asset Media Private Limited.
The SC also issued a sub order preventing the CAA from suing the media company.
The SC ordered the CAA not to interrupt the proceedings of the Dialog TV in the future.
The Chief Justice, Sarath N. Silva explained that allowing the CAA to proceed would mean injustice to over 30,000 Dialog TV users.
The petition was heard by a panel of judges that consisted of The Chief Justice, Shirani Thilakawardena and Raja Fernando.
The source of above news is

i think the CAA (and the mofos behind the whole drama of course) got their asses whipped this time around.
It's tool old shit they are repeating.
LST you are correct.
What kind of a mother f***ing Consumer Affairs Authority is that? Tring to disrupt the DTH service again to more than 30,000 consumers?
Well this confirms one thing. Heads of CAA seem to be Hulla's bitches.
They didnt do jack shit for CBNsat customers when they were blacked out; Now we know why.
Cant believe they brought up a license issue for a second time though. Especially when the green light for DTV was given by the Supreme Court itself.
I'm pretty sure DTV would have won this lame lawsuit even if it didnt get rejected. Dialog Telekom probably has one of each different license types TRC has to offer and i dont think Telekom Malaysia will just watch till it's subsidiary gets bullied by a bunch of jackasses.
Anyways screw CAA.
So much for the CAA!!
There is an interesting article about DTV, in business section of today's daily news.
Today's DTV article is uploaded:
