According to reports reaching us Dialog TV have begun adding Radio channels onto their platform once again. So far the following channels are available
1) SLBC City Fm
2) SLBC Commercial Service
3) SLBC English
4) SLBC Threndal
These channels are said to be encrypted at the moment. The last time radio channels were taken off air citing bandwidth issues and we hope that this problem will not come up again. If radio channels come aboard Dialog TV it is a good move because presently the FM channels are so cluttered that is a nightmare to tune even with a digital tuner.
We hope that picture and sound quality on the television channels will not be compromised as a result of this. In addition Dialog should move from MPEG2 to MPEG4 soon as HBO is moving to HD platform from Oct 2nd (See article HBO Asia to go HD from Oct 2nd), in addition three new sports channels are in the offing with Ten Sports launching a Golf Channel and Ten Sports 2 as well as ESPN Star launching a Sports News Channel (See article New Sports channels from Ten Sports and ESPN Star in the offing).
In addition to this the happening channels AXN Beyond and SET English are yet to be added to Dialog TV. We reiterate that the MPEG2 to MPEG4 conversion should be carried out immediately or Dialog should secure another transponder to added these channels. The 7 channels in 7 weeks was a good thing by Dialog TV but not good enough. Dialog cannot hide behind marketing mumbo jumbo like that and ignore the rest of the channels that are made available which carry good programming. We would say that AXN Beyond and SET English carry better programming that FOX Crime and FX Asia.
So lets not wait for another year for another 7 channels in 7 weeks Dialog should get cracking immediately and add these channels.

Well firstly i have no clue why dialog would do that and secondly i think that before you guys try to add in new radio channels and stuff you should consider giving all Dialog Tv users better service. Your connection is Horrible. When its day time the signal goes off (They say its coz of the clouds blocking the damn satellite) When it rains it goes off.. seriously why give a cable channel out if you guys cant deliver? You guys increase your channel base all the time but no one can ever enjoys the it because it NEVER WORKS!!!!
Sri Lanka Broadcasting Corporation starts its broadcasting via digital and satellite technology. It was launched this morning at the Temple Trees under the patronage of President Mahinda Rajapakse. Speaking at the event, the President said that the SLBC the oldest radio network of Asia can be compared to a sleeping giant in the region. Now that the giant has awakened to thrive towards the 21st century with the implementation of modern technology in broadcasting. The President further said that the new development of the national radio will lead the country towards development and prosperity. Under the new technology, the City FM, Commercial, Thendral and English Service will have satellite broadcasting from today. It has been made possible by Dialog Telecom. It is expected that the listeners would get a clear broadcasting signal by this transmission. Meanwhile, SLBC will launch another Tamil language broadcasting service from
Iratta-periya-kulam to the benefit of the people in the north.
Looks like president is trying to hoodwink his subjects by being "first" in doing things. Radio over satellite channels is nothing new to SL- it was there from the time of CBN SAT- the predecessor of DialogTV, so why the fuss about it now

i would like to see a decrease in the monthly rental..adverting in all sat.channels in a proper way can make a great revenue for dialog tv..why aren't they carrying out this yet?so we don't have to pay much for the rental and at the same time we can have some new channels.. ?>>?

STAR MOVIES & STAR PLUS have Same EPG Informations now. What's that?
Today (10/8) all movie channels are gone out.(I mean transponder for that channels) But other transponders works fine. quality level goes up and down. Why this?

Get the guy who did it for you initaly if you was sattisfied with his work. Anyway make sure he knows his subject or else try it yourself. It is a bit messy but good expirence. There are many website for it.

Read this wiki article and understand what you will be doing when repositioning your dish..take a look at the pics on the right in the first para.

type your location and then select your satellite type from the list..
Then you will get all the details on how you should position your dish with the exact measurements.
( As it is Google maps that is available, you can select your house and get the measurements )
It is better if you have a compass when doing the job... all the best...

one of my relatives in Colombo 15 has a normal antenna at home and he says that at night, Ten Sports, Star Cricket, Star Sports and Star Movies is viewable in his TV...( not crystal clear but, viewable ) He does not have any kind of decoder or dish...
Only uses the normal antenna and booster to watch TV....
Does anybody know how this happens???

Must be dtv testing their terrestial transmission. They do hav a tower in Narahenpita according to the trc. How did ur friend come across these channels. Did he find them accidently while tuning ?
but terrestrial transmission by DTV is on DIGITAL (DVB-T format) so how can it be received on a normal analogue TV without any decoder??

I reckon it is from LBN cablenetwork connection. I saw the same thing happening in Moratuwa. Check if the area you are talking about do have the LBN cablenetwork connections??
There is the Dialog logo in Rupavahini that my other TV connected to the Antenna. Have anyone noticed it?
They are hiding the logo using an advertisement. but you can see it sometime.

He said that he could see those channels from years back... Those days he had seen HBO too. but not now....
i did not ask how he found them.. I think he would have found them accidentally. may be he would have used the auto tuning feature...

Its possible. If you using a signal extender such like a home tv broadcast (Connect more TV's to the cable network by wireless) this things happening for shorter distance.

The default system is PAL and its not a problem cause it can be changed from the menu of the decoder.
you can switch between NTSC or PAL
resolution is unknown
but blurred quality in a 37" tv.

Guys do U know how to connect Dialog TV setup box (MPEG4/Black) to normal computer monitor (Male 15 pin) I checked rare panel of the setup box and I found two ports are there.
1) S-VIDEO OUT
2) Video Out (yellow port)
