According to the newest unconfirmed reports coming in, it seems that there is some sort of Software Update available on Dialog TV HD Decoders. According to the reports there is no change to the software, except for the addition of "Supreme Sat 1" in the "Satellite" menu under "Settings > Installation".
Earlier this year it was reported that Dialog TV is planning to migrate to Supreme Sat 1 due to increasing costs on the present provider and lack of bandwidth.
Let's hope this is the start of something good. We aren't sure of the details such as dish alignment, etc. However it is likely that the switch will be gradual and if Dialog TV is going to use both service providers then it would mean that the new transponders on Supreme Sat 1 will run on MPEG4 DVBS2.

Usually set-top boxes are the easiest way ensure everyone has access to a new digital tv platform. Most countries introduce digital tv sets but also set top boxes so that old tv's will still be able to be used. Hopefully, the same will happen in Sri Lanka.
I am unable to update my Dialog TV HD decoder. I can not go to the update tab as it's not active. last update date showing as 2012. Anyone knows the reason ?

@Nilantha, ISDB-T is a very old inefficient system ( In terms of bandwidth Utilization) used in Japan and south America. You would not get a single ISDB TV set in Sri Lanka other than those brought from Japan domestic market. DVB-T2 is the latest technology and is used in many countries. We will have to purchase a ISDB-T tuner STB if we are to watch them.
Srilanka changing the previous plan of DVB-T2 to ISDB-T is Political reason & kickbacks.Srilankan Broadcast engineers know who is behind this ISDB-T.

Yep my Samsung TV is also has a built in DVB-T2 tuner.. seems it will be useless if SLGov to promote ISDB

PVR facility is now free for Gold package too. Nice move. However quite a few channels are without EPG and due to that i am unable to schedule recording feature.
DTV should rectify the issue by either:
1. Providing EPG for all channels
2. making software change so user can schedule recording by entering the channel number and the start time.
Yesterday i have updated my HD decoder software and i noticed a quality drop on HD channels . Can any one tell me why is that ??

Dish TV has the license. Dialog to see competition very very very soon.
It's highly unlikely that DISH will give rates much less than DTV.
But they will have a good market for the Tamil speaking population, this is already evident in the North/East.
But its highly unlikely for them to just focus on Tamil viewers as it would not justify their investment. So they ought to come up with a deal which would make ppl move from Dialog to Dish.
Shall we all do a request to dialog TV asking "star world premier HD" ?
