According to reports reaching us Dialog is to go ahead with upgrading it's network from MPEG2 to MPEG4 probably MPEG4 DVBS2. An SMS sent last night to all "Gold" package subscribers indicated that they will be upgraded to the PVR enabled HD decoder free of any additional charges and a call from the Dialog Team can be expected shortly. This SMS comes hot on the heels of a stock exchange filing yesterday that reported of a 23% increase in subscribers as well as a fall in profits in Dialog TV due to equipment write down and an ongoing upgrade from MPEG2 to MPEG4.
This means that Dialog TV can expand and add more channels in the near future. The last time a switch over of this nature was mentioned was a couple of years ago and the decoder delivery took a good couple of months. We sincerely hope that this time round decoder distribution is carried out within a much smaller period of time and the proposed conversion goes ahead unlike the last time when the decoders were switched but the conversion never actually took place.
Looks like there is glimmer of hope for Dialog TV subscribers who have been hounded by this "lack of capacity curse" that Dialog has been under for the last several years.
We kindly request our fellow bloggers, facebook fans & tweeps to inform us by comments or tweets, when they start to receive calls about the decoder replacements from the Dialog Team. Please continue to update us on the latest on Dialog TV as the days progress and we are looking forward to exciting days ahead.

Good Move by Dialog !!!!!!!!! Already have the HD decoder..
Ok, we are being HOWLING for allmost 3 years by now and DTV does not have so much of work or investment need to make if they did it in the very first instance.
So they doing it on the hard way...:D
anyway, its never late than ever.
Still its productive rather than doing it in somewhere in future.
Sirasa Fans.. looks like your waiting becoming to end...
We have requested for this from a long time..... But Happy to see the green light for the MPEG4 move.
HD Decorder change is free to all the Gold Users but there is no Pen Drive included for this.
Monthly rental of 990 will be added to the HD/Non HD contents with HD pack.
Will wait till they move to MPEG4
All 3 MBC channels to be launched for Sinhala & Tamil New year. This
from a very reliable source. He also mentioned that the delay was on the part of MBC as their channels were not powerful enough to link to DTV, and MBC has to spend some millions to upgrade same. Dont understand what this means but all seems ready now.
This Year Not Going upgrade from MPEG2 to MPEG4 DialogTV
Somebody tell OFS1500 decoder support DVB-S2 .
Sometimes MBC is going to use HD platform, now they use that ratio for "Garfild" and once I saw one of the live news telecast. 16:9, but not real HD, they have that facilities and will use in the near future before "Hiru TV" do.
Now some people are using Indian satellite TV connections to have HD, when I ask, they said , they have upto 22 HD channels for, nearly
1 400 to 1 700 Sri Lankan rupees.
So,now Dialog must give half of that for Rs. 900 before so long, If not really Future is not today, they are only beautiful words .
@ Priyanta
