Regardless of whether it is a seasonal gift (as Dialog would like to call it) or marketing gimmick (which is what some subscribers call it) from Dialog TV we believe that it is a great move by Dialog TV to make all channels on their platform available to all subscribers. This bonus offer will be available to all packages until 2nd January 2009. All subscribers who have been active as of Dec 15th 2008 are eligible for this offer according to communication from Dialog TV.
In addition it seems that the MPEG4 conversion of movie channels which was scheduled to be completed a few months back has not been carried out as yet. We believe that this conversion will be carried out next year but it should be carried out as soon as possible since many subscribers are complaining of severe pixelation specially on HBO channels.
We take this opportunity to wish all our fellow bloggers, the management and staff of Dialog Television a

merry christmas & happy new year
Hi Everyone... wish u Merry Christmas...
Wish you all a Merry Christmas
On the Galle Road from Panadura towards Galle Cables are being layed on the land side of the road after digging the road... Cables of four colors are being layed and concrete slabs with the word "DIALOG" engraved on it are being kept on the cables..... This is done by Access Engineering...
Does anybody know what this project of Dilog is????
@ ADMIN & FELLOW BLOGGERS
WISHING YOU ALL A MERRY CHRISTMAS & HAPPY NEW YEAR 2009...!!
@ Conny
It’s the fiber network of Dialog. And this is the first kind of mobile’s Fiber network. This project costs a lot. In other countries the Government arrange the infrastructure and the operators to rent the facility. Here it’s other way around. As per my knowledge only SLT is having a fiber network. That also in Colombo I suppose.. (not sure)
I can remember few months back there was another fiber network laid in Colombo and that too by Dialog and this for their Mobile Technology. I don’t know about their CDMA, and data facility.
@ Nokia
thaks dude... SLT is having a fiber network in Colombo... a 3Gbps network is in place in Colombo as per my knowledge Connecting all the major buildings in Colombo...
why is Dialog is laying these fiber cables????? is it for their mobile section Or to expand DTV????
A friend of mine told me today that Dialog is gonna expand DTV through this fiber laying and start DTV cable network.... HOWEVER I AM NOT VERIFYING THIS PPL... I DUNNO WHETHER IT IS TRUE OR NOT.. THIS IS THE INFO I HEARD.
IF THERE IS ANYBODY WITH SUCH NEWS PLEASE POST HERE SO THAT WE ALL CAN KNOW ABOUT IT.....
A friend told me that DTV are laying Fiber Optic cables because they say that it is difficult and cost more to maintain a Radio Antenna.
So as a solution they are laying Fiber Optic cables and they say it costs less.
All data will be transferred via fiber optic cables in future.
you can get a really grate knowledge about fiber optic cables and their communications by visiting the following link:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fiber_optic_communication
can anyone post the current SET plans of DTV and their prices?
thanks
Cony & Nokia,
Dialog is going to lay fibers to take the mobile and Data traffic. At present they use Radio network of DBN heard using SLT fiber network for the same and with the increased traffic, Wimax & 3G Radio is becomming too costly. They will lay fiber to Mathara & Anuradapura but will not be able match SLT network which connects many of its stations with ADSL in all over the contry including upto Batti, Trinco, Vavuniaya & Hamba.

what happened to freakin AIRTEL?????
@ TRANSPOTER
Ya, what a sad story, the country is in an entire mess.
@ DTV MF
The launch has been delayed, maybe till Jan'09, cuz approval has not been granted by the Indian authoriities. There was an article in last sundays financial times.
Financial Times
Sunday December 21, 2008
Airtel launch delayed
Launch plans of Bharti Airtel Lanka (Airtel), the Sri Lankan arm of a leading Indian mobile operator, has been delayed as the company’s Indian parent has still not granted sanction to start operations as yet, according to senior telecom industry officials. "Airtel was looking at launching somewhere on December 23, and they said that this is a tentative date as the company still has not got approval from their head office in India for the launch date," one industry official told The Sunday Times FT.
He said it might well be launched next year. Airtel officials were unavailable for comment. Airtel which is the fifth operator cleared some issues last month with the existing operators – Dialog, Mobitel, Tigo and Hutch on Interconnection Charges last month.
An industry analyst said the increasing cut throat competition amongst the existing competitors has triggered a price war in the industry. "Airtel's impending launch has aggravated this situation," he added.
