Maintenance Day 2 : Completed

From midnight last night till 5am this morning Dialog TV completed the second and final day of scheduled maintenance. There were no visible changes (from the subscribers point of view) after the first day of maintenance and it is highly unlikely that the second day will bring about some changes. The real reason for the maintenance is still being gathered but it seems it may have something to do with upgrading the system to supporting MPEG4 & HDTV in the future and also some changes which will result in the reduction of rain fade. But so far after Day 1 no reduction in rain fade has being experienced with Dialog TV loosing signal for upto 10 min in some areas due to rain last night. So hopefully if this maintenance had something to do with rain fade then we should see some improvement from today onwards since they have completed their maintenance plans.

We hope that the pixelation problem on the HBO channels has been sorted out. Some subscribers are reporting that from last night the Dialog TV logo is appearing on all channels in their new decoders but not on their older CBNsat decoders. We wonder whether others are experiencing the same thing.

Please keep us updated on the latest on Dialog TV as the days progress.

  3. Sri Lanka Telecom has acquired a 75% stake in Sky Network Limited for US$1 million. Sky Network is a company incorporated in Sri Lanka by the Lycatel Group, a pan-european pre-paid telecom organization, to carry on operations in Sri Lanka with the aim of securing access to their wireless broad-band frequency.
According SLT, the teaming up with Sky Network could provide leverage its island–wide infrastructure for the provisioning of wireless broad-band applications such as IPTV, Video on Demand and Educational Services to the local market. Currently SLT uses ADSL technology for its broadband services. The SLT board resorted to this option as the license for its Wi-Max operation from TRC had seen inordinate delays.

  4. Sorry to comment on somthing unrealted but regarding the above post (SLT acquiring SKY) have to say something. It was on Sunday Leader sometime ago

Sky network is a fictious company but has "somehow" got a license to operate a WiMax network. Sri Lanka Telecom which is the largest Telecom operator in SL havent been able to get a WiMax license. I will let the readers decide what to make of it. 1 Million Dollars for doing nothing shit wish i was a Rajapakeshe

  21. who says rain effect is off???
yesterday i had no signals due to rain. seems the decoder was bit more resistant against the rain than before, recovering much faster.

have they really made an upgrade? or is it just my imagination.
