Year End Review & Happy New Year 2015

Well we have come to the end of yet another year and it's time to review the was at Dialog TV. This year has been a rather good year for Dialog TV, depends how you look at it but we decided to go with a rather positive outlook. Let's look at the significant happening of 2014.

  • Kidsco was replaced by Discovery Kids.
  • Neo Sports was replaced by Russia Today.
  • Some transponders were converted to MPEG4.
  • MTV Sports was added to the platform.
  • Citi Hitz made it's return.
  • MTV India returned with a non Indian feed.
  • Cine Thirai, Sony Six, Sundance Channel, Universal Channel & E was launched.
  • Soon afterward Sundance was removed and ADA Derana was launced.
  • Fox Crime Asia was replaced by Fox Crime India.
  • EWTN got its own channel, after time sharing with God TV for a couple of years.
  • Swarga TV was launched and is now time sharing with God TV.
This year has been quite positive but we still are yet to see a total conversion to MPEG4, let's keep our fingers crossed for 2015. With impending competition entering the local market, let's hope for a better 2015 for Dialog TV. Let's also hope that in 2015, no channels will get replaced but new channels will be added. There are also rumors of Dialog TV shifting to SupremeSat.

We also thank you our fellow bloggers for being with us throughout 2014 and thank you for your support and take this opportunity to wish the Management & Staff of Dialog TV and all our fellow bloggers a
"A Happy & Prosperous 2015"

EWTN (Ch.No 83) - God TV (Ch.No 21) split confirmed

It's confirmed God TV will occupy Channel No. 21 on Dialog TV and EWTN will move to number 83, not the previously said number 94. We regret the error made regarding the channel number. This is indeed good news for subscribers who watch these channels. The time sharing which started in December 2011 has finally come to an end. Therefore these two channels will be available on a 24 hour basis hereafter.

At the time of writing this article Dialog TV is updating the website to reflect the change.

Now it's time for Dialog TV to move the other transponders to MPEG4, and start adding new channels too. It's not clear what sort of advantage the soon to be launched Dish TV will have over Dialog TV but the competition will be good for the industry.

EWTN now on Channel No. 94

For those of you who watch EWTN, if you are wondering where the channel is at present, its now on channel no. 94. If you don't have HD set top box, please call Dialog TV and ask for it since you will need it to access the channel. We hope its provided free to those subscribers.

As of now God TV is on channel no. 21, and we think it will continue on that channel. No official confirmation as yet but we believe Dialog TV has ended the time sharing and given two separate channel slots after years of time sharing. Viewers of these two channels missed lots of programming on these channels, so its a good move and its only fair by them that these two channels have been separated and will be available on 24 hour basis. Hopefully this is a permanent move and not one targeted at the Christmas season, besides the impending papal visit we believe has also weighed heavily on making this decision.

For those who hoped that they will get a new channel, they will feel disappointed but lets remember that there is not enough capacity to add a new channel. Dialog have probably sliced some bandwidth off the HD or SD channels and created just enough space for a channel. We believe that the broadcast quality of this channel will not be on par with the other channels. Normally Dialog have practiced giving religious channels very little bandwidth. If they added a new channel instead of EWTN on that slot, we believe the quality would have been very disappointing.

Please keep us updated on the very latest on Dialog TV as the days progress.
